Back in 1992, Konica released a quirky 35mm film camera called the Hexar. It was an all-in-one non-interchangeable lens point-and-shoot, but it wasn’t compact, and it wasn’t meant for beginners. Many magazine editors and reviewers argued that even though the lens wasn’t interchangeable, it didn’t automatically make it a point-and-shoot camera.
