Vicks Jarabe is an over-the-counter medicine that coats and soothes your throat by providing a refreshing sensation. Each dose contains a cough suppressant that helps control and relieve cough (Dextromethorphan HBr) and an expectorant (Guaifenesin) that helps loosen phlegm (mucus). Directions: Adults and children 12 years and over, take 30 mL every 4 hours. Children 6 to under 12 years, take 15 mL every 4 hours. Children 4 to under 6 years, take 7.5 mL every 4 hours.
